The Last Picnic of 2006

After stuffing my belly during the holidays I'm finding that I don't have an appetite for anything. Last night I put together a little indoor picnic that hit the spot. First stop: Blue Apron Foods on Union. I asked for a small container of the Greek olive mix and the counter person led me to the Spanish mix which included the big green olives (not usually my favorite), slightly sweet cornichons and whole cloves of garlic. She swears that the garlic is not garlicky at all but I pass on those. Then I head to the front to pick up a baguette delivered daily from Amy's Bread. Next stop: 7th Avenue Wines. There's only so much cheap wine a girl can drink so I went with the moderately priced Louis Jadot Chardonnay. Last stop: Leaf and Bean. I knew that I would want something sweet to go with all that savory. I chose the Ghiardelli Chocolate Mocha for some rich but light Hot Chocolate. Then I headed home. To complete my spread I heated up some leftover garbanzo beans with curry and onions and pulled out the cold butter. Believe me, there's nothing better than sitting on the floor spreading a delicious baguette with cold butter while sipping the cleanest tasting chardonnay ever. And to top it off I found some Hersheys kisses to go with my hot cocoa.

Where are your priorities?

OK, I love food but a girl's got to maintain her figure so Pilates is my answer. I have been practicing and teaching Pilates for about 10 years and it's my solution to staying fit. I own a studio called pilates co-op brooklyn where we have small group classes and private sessions but I also travel around the city teaching in private residences. But back to the food...I love to talk about food stuff; restaurants, new kitchen gadgets, recipes, chefs, etc. I also love the usual topics: pop culture, fashion, culture and art. And if you're wondering what 'Pump Hundreds' means, take a Pilates class.
